Her friend (a Muslim guy) is getting married and his brother ( also Muslim) was detained in the airport for a day when he was flying over to America from Britain for his brother’s wedding. I asked my mom if there were any reasons why and she said, “Well, he’s Muslim, he’s heavily bearded, he looks like a terrorist!” and I’m like “MOM. he’s an optometrist. He’s obviously not a terrorist.” and she’s like “Well you never know! The airports have to detain everyone who looks suspicious, because you never know!”

The arts in nerdfighteria. There is a huge movement toward allowing people to express themselves and bring them an audience. We actively seek new talent and display it to each other. That’s beautiful.

What is Nerdfighteria to you?
Nerdfighteria is one night in August 2010 when thousands of people sat vigil for a girl most of them had never met, absolutely terrified for her and filled with hope for her loved ones. Nerdfighteria is a hundred thousand people who believe that there is good in the world and that united we can make it grow. Nerdfighteria is a collective of individuals who do what they must, because they can. Nerdfighteria is writing songs about pop culture phenomena, musicals about Thomas Jefferson, and haiku about pre-revolutionary France. Nerdfighteria is.
